Two Interventions for Early-Stage Dementia

What Is This Study About?

This study will compare two nondrug interventions, an exercise program and a social-activity program, for people with early-stage dementia and their caregivers. The goal is to reduce the social, psychological, physical, and behavioral impact of dementia.

Do I Qualify To Participate in This Study?

Minimum Age: 18 Years

Maximum Age: N/A

Must have:

  • Dementia diagnosis
  • Care partner who agrees to participate with the care recipient
  • Care recipient lives in the community or a retirement home
  • English speaking

Must NOT have:

  • Significant physical or psychiatric illness in either the care partner or care recipient that would prevent participation in an exercise program
  • Plans to move out of study area during the 4-month follow-up period
