Basil Eldadah is acting chief of the Geriatrics Branch. He oversees a portfolio of translational and clinical research in older adults across a variety of areas including pain, fatigue, critical care, HIV/AIDS, cancer, and pulmonary diseases. He also helps to manage the NIA Grants for Early Medical/Surgical Subspecialists’ Transition to Aging Research (GEMSSTAR) program, which supports first independent research efforts and professional development for early-career physicians interested in bridging their clinical specialty and aging research.
Dr. Eldadah received his MD and PhD degrees from Georgetown University School of Medicine, followed by a residency in Internal Medicine at Georgetown University Hospital. He then completed a fellowship in Clinical Pharmacology at the NIH Clinical Center with an emphasis on autonomic physiology and neurocardiologic disorders. He has been at the NIA since 2006.Portfolio:
