Staff Changes

Dr. Robert McCrae, Senior Investigator, Laboratory of Personality and Cognition (LPC), NIA, recently retired. Dr. McCrae’s work was centered on studies of personality structure (the Five-Factor Model), assessment (the Revised NEO Personality Inventory), and applications in health and aging. Dr. McCrae has been with the NIA since 1978.

Dr. Paul Costa, Jr., Senior Investigator and Chief, Laboratory of Personality and Cognition (LPC), NIA, retired on December 31, 2009. Dr. Costa has been Chief of LPC since 1985. His research program was organized around the Five Factor Model, with the goals to employ the comprehensive structural model of personality to investigate basic questions concerning aging and human development. Dr. Susan Resnick will be Acting Chief, LPC.

Dr. Susan Nayfield, Chief of the Geriatrics Branch in the Division of Geriatrics and Clinical Gerontology retired from NIA on December 31, 2009. In January 2010, she assumed a position at the University of Florida as Chief, Division of Clinical Research, in the Department of Aging and Geriatric Research, and also as Acting Chief in the Division of Geriatric Medicine.
